The purpose is to die cut samples of appropriately thick insulating materials indicated in the reference regulation and previously treated with Equipment for test preparations.
Based on the reference regulation, the size and shape of the punch may vary.
It is very important, however, that it be sharp in order to reduce imperfections in the samples as much as possible.
The punched samples obtained will be used to determine the mechanical properties of the insulating materials and sheaths (determining the breaking point and stretching) and, when required, the tests must be performed after one or more accelerated aging treatments pursuant to the provisions regarding the individual type of cable being tested.
